The breakfast was okay, though the coffee wasn't fresh. The rooms are old but fairly clean. We were three in a small room, and it wasn't ideal for a group: the bathroom and toilet are quite open, so you hear every sound. The receptionists don't speak English, but they were willing to help if you know some Russian.

The garden and outdoor seating by the fountain really made my two-week stay, and I was able to sleep well. My room felt homely thanks to the decorations, with spacious dimensions, modern furniture, a fridge, and a lifesaving AC. Breakfast was okay, even by European standards. There were some real drawbacks. The room was very dusty and not fully clean when I arrived, then went uncleaned for 10 days. I had to ask for fresh towels and toilet paper, and nobody came to clean until I raised it with the hotel manager. He apologized, and it was cleaned the next day. Some local staff had an irritating attitude, while others acted unprofessionally, watching loud TikTok videos in the breakfast room annex. Some of the food wasn't entirely fresh. Once you get used to standards being different here, you may like the place.

The hosts are cordial, and breakfast is decent. The host knows a lot about local tourism and can help with planning, including for the Pamir mountains. Tourists going to and returning from there stay here, so you can get the latest information. Google Translate helps with conversation. The AC in my room was powerful, set at 21C while it was over 30 outside. It's a bit far from the center, and the area is dull apart from a small park by the mayor's office. There are no big supermarkets nearby. A cheap taxi takes 7-15 minutes to reach attractions and good restaurants. The thin walls and occasional street noise are drawbacks, but the hosts and breakfast make up for them.

The backyard and kitchen were highlights, and the staff were good and spoke English. They can cook fresh food for you. This hostel-style place has some private rooms too, and it's a nice atmosphere and location for meeting other foreigners headed to or returning from Tajikstan. Sharing travel stories was fun. I stayed two days and would happily stay again. It's a good place, just not fancy.
