Mariya Hotel

The river views are lovely, and it’s handy for the area’s restaurants, bars, and cafes. The hotel has only recently reopened with new management. Rooms cost 60,000 and include A/C and two bottles of water each day. I’d like a fan-only option. The facilities are reasonably standard and kept clean. There’s free WiFi and a Smart TV, though it only works well sometimes. Staff are friendly and helpful, and I’d stay here again for the riverside setting.

I picked this hotel for a 2D1N trip to Kampong Cham. Its location near the Mekong, plenty of nearby places to eat, and the local bus company with routes to other Cambodian cities were all convenient. The front-of-house woman was friendly and spoke English well. She let me look around the rooms before I chose one. They take cards, but bring cash in case the POS is down. The room was spacious, though quite basic and rundown, so keep expectations modest. There’s no elevator, and the air conditioning wasn’t especially strong in the Cambodian heat.

The best thing about this old, run-down, badly repainted place is its riverside location. My first room had ants everywhere, even on the bed.

The views from the spacious, nice VIP room were breathtaking, and the location is awesome. It cost $15. The room wasn’t very clean, some amenities didn’t work very well, but the staff were really nice and helpful.
