Mealea Resort

We found this hotel to be great value, with excellent rooms and professional, very friendly staff who were genuinely helpful throughout our stay. It’s right across from the sea and about a five-minute walk from the Crab Market. Though close to everything, the property stays remarkably quiet and peaceful, surrounded by a lush garden and beautiful big trees. A lovely place to unwind.

Everything else was alright, but the female receptionist was rude. There’s sharp decor in the pool that can cause bleeding, and a friend was accused of being blind. While he was in the water, he was disrespectfully told he should’ve watched where he was going. Can your staff even see clearly underwater? Fire her.

The owner wasn't at the resort when we complained, and the response we got was shockingly rude. We were mocked and called “stupid” for not noticing a hazard in the pool. My father had been badly hurt there: sharp steps around a poorly designed decoration sat below the water and were impossible to see. His face was seriously cut and bleeding, and he had to be taken to hospital.

I went to the hospital in Kampot and needed stitches after cutting my nose while swimming at Mealea resort. The injury came from sharp corners on a flower-shaped structure in the middle of the pool. When I asked for an apology and for the resort to share responsibility, the owner refused and blamed me, saying I had been swimming with my eyes closed. I said that I had closed them while diving, then asked why a pool would be built with sharp corners in the middle. A service woman messaged me through Mealea Resort Messager using very rude and unethical language, and showed no responsibility for guests hurt by the unsafe facility. I reported the matter to police and asked for an apology and just $1 USD as moral and ethical compensation. Let's see how the Kep Police and the resort owner respond.
