Mpai Bay Cottages

Fred, who owns Koalama, talked about how locals and expat owners depend on each other, and how positive that relationship can be for everyone. I was glad to support the local economy by visiting M’Pai Bay. It’s a charming bay and a great place to stay.

I’ve been fond of this part of Koh Rong samloem for years and keep finding myself back here. It has the feel of a hidden village, with locals having fun, dogs wandering around, and kids playing games and hide-and-seek at all hours. There are plenty of good places to eat, from Cambodian food to Western dishes.

It’s a quiet spot to relax, with a nice place to watch the sunset. There are plenty of restaurants, hotels and homestays, plus massages, snorkeling, diving, and boat transfers to other beaches on Koh Rong Samloem. A few bars and restaurants play soft music, but it’s generally peaceful.

I tried a lot of the food here and loved it. There are lots of diving spots, and you can see plankton at night. The little village has lovely beaches, and you can catch both sunrise and sunset here. Such a gem in Cambodia.
