The service really was excellent, which is why I’d give fewer stars otherwise. The room was okay, and the food was tolerable. Breakfast was the cheapest deal I found at $2.50 with coffee, but avoid the sausages. They were grey, gritty, and barely edible, not even like the hot dog-style ones some places serve. If you eat pork, stick with the bacon.

Koh Rong is extremely expensive for Southeast Asia, even compared with islands like Phuket or Koh Samui, but you shouldn’t expect the same level of service. The toilets were dirty, there was no privacy, and the mosquito net didn’t cover the whole bed. I think accommodation across Koh Rong, especially in this village, is generally low quality. Maybe a hostel would be a better choice.

The beach is just a one-minute walk away, and the rooms are rustic, cooled by fans, and have balconies with sea and mountain views. There’s a beachfront restaurant, and massage services are available. Each room has seating and dining areas, a desk, mosquito net, clothes rack, and a private bathroom with a bath or shower and towels. Guests can fish, canoe, dive, or snorkel, and there’s also currency exchange and a tour desk. The restaurant serves Asian and Western food, along with coffee and fresh fruit shakes. Sihanoukville International Airport is 41 km away.

The beds were comfortable, and nights weren’t too noisy. The fan was covered in mould, though, mosquitoes were everywhere, and the net had holes. Compared with the other places I saw there, this one wasn’t too bad.
