Aurea Central Hotel

My food went missing, and the night-shift staff member’s response made this the worst hotel experience of my life. I was starving late at night and ordered a full KFC meal for delivery. I went downstairs when it arrived, but it wasn’t there. The night-shift guy with glasses casually said “someone else took it.” When I asked him to check the CCTV, he refused and then started shouting at me aggressively. Honestly, it felt like he ate my food and was afraid to show the footage, but I can’t know for sure. His attitude was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I cancelled all my upcoming bookings at once. With staff like this, the hotel doesn’t deserve four stars, or even one. The guy was so hostile that I questioned whether he should have that job. I’ve travelled around the world for ten years and never before met hotel staff who might have eaten a guest’s food and then yelled at them. Absolutely disgraceful. Avoid this place at all costs.

The location made it easy to walk to the riverside, temples and other local attractions. They gave me a local map that helped me find my way around the city. My room was very clean and comfortable, and from the first minutes of my stay through the whole visit, the staff listened to my requests. When my friends and I next come to the capital of Cambodia, we’ll definitely stay here again.

The spacious room had great amenities, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom, and the service was friendly. The market is conveniently close, and there’s a 24/7 ATM nearby. The fridge in my room didn’t work, and from level 3 we could hear all the street noise, so I’d recommend level 5. The restaurant lacked taste.

We slept very well in comfortable beds, with no street noise, and the hotel is modern and clean. Still, quite a few things could be improved. The towels they gave us for our hands at check-in smelled bad, and our room smelled of cigarettes, so we had to ask for another one. Internet speed was 0.11 mb/s. The brand new TV was entirely in Chinese and unusable. Booking online was cheaper than paying the hotel directly. The fridge was switched off when we arrived, and after being on for a night it was still very hot, so it was useless.
