Diamond One Hotel and Serviced Apartment

I’ve traveled a lot around Asia for a long time, and this was the worst hotel experience of my life. The main reason we booked was the pool, but the advertised pool is now a kids’ play area. The non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarettes, one AC unit was out, and cockroaches were everywhere. We tried to change rooms, but staff acted as if there were none available. I’m a low-maintenance guy, and I even bought a bunch of Raid and cleaned the place myself, leaving it much better than I found it. On checkout day, they said they had to check the room before returning the deposit. It takes two minutes to get to our room, but the woman was on a call and then acted like she was in a hurry when I said we had a bus to catch to Siem Reap. We waited 10-15 minutes and she never came back down. I told the other workers, who said to wait another 10 minutes. I said no, it isn’t customary to inspect a room before returning the deposit, and they were going to make us late for our bus. They seemed to be delaying so they wouldn’t have to return our deposit. I want it back now, though really I should be refunded for the whole stay. The deposit issue was the last straw. I’ll go after this hotel. This isn’t okay.
