Garden City Hotel

The water park suited us because our young child needed a nap in the room before going back out. You can re-enter if you keep your wristband, but check the hours, 10am-6 pm, since they start clearing the park at 5:30. I wish the hotel had handled the discounted tickets better. We were told it was 30% off, but the water park said the online offer had to be bought before 10 am. They eventually let me get the e-gets app and buy at a good discount through ABA online. I’m not sure I’d stay again unless I was coming from outside PP just for the water park or golf course. The hotel was nice and, I think, fairly priced, though about half seemed abandoned and it felt like we were the only guests. Some areas had no lights on, so we turned them on ourselves, which wasn’t a big deal. The pool was clean, had a nice shallow section for younger kids, and staff brought floaties for them. The room was nice, with a bathtub and large shower. The AC barely worked the first night, even after we tried the manager’s suggestion, so it was hot. It worked better the next night, perhaps because the room gets a lot of sun and needed a full day to cool down. We had a view of the golf course and took a chair out to the balcony because there was nowhere to sit. Breakfast was very basic unless a large group was staying, when they put out a full buffet. Otherwise there were a few cereals, breads, fruits, and eggs on request. The cappuccino machine made decent coffee. Staff were friendly with us and our kids.

The hotel was excellent, and the food was generally good. The 18-hole golf course is top notch, with challenging greens, experienced caddies, and first-class facilities. It’s a five-star golf resort, about 40 minutes from the city center.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at Garden City Hotel. They upgraded us to the executive suite and left a fruit bowl in the room, though I can’t remember if I’d told them we were on our honeymoon 😳. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. My only small complaint is that there wasn’t a cold drink or towel to welcome us when we arrived. The golf course view was especially lovely, and you can watch the sunset from your room. The rooms are big and comfortable, and the pool is spacious and close to Oak Spa, where they offer good therapy service. Breakfast was nice, with a range of cuisines and restaurants. I had a really nice stay here. It’s a wonderful place for a week away or a family break.
