Paradise Hotel

The hotel bar was good for our group on our last night. As for the room, the bed turned out more comfortable than I expected. Nothing amazing, but decent. The whole place is quite worn, though, and needs a complete redo to live up to its advertisement. The stairwells are poorly lit, and after seeing my photos of the “gym” and spa, there wasn’t much to get excited about. There’s plenty of old-fashioned character here. The lobby is lovely, with a small koi pond, and they gave us refreshing fruit juice when we arrived. The stairs and elevator were both well kept, and the common areas were bright and easy to find your way around. Breakfast was included, and there’s a massage place and gym on the 4th floor. My first-floor room was small but cozy, with the basics: water, coffee and tea, safe, hangers, flip-flops, hairdryer, shampoo, body wash, shower cap, razor, dental kit, and mini fridge. I could see a palm tree outside and a bit of the street, with no noise problem. The nightstand had light controls and what looked like an adjustable bed control, but that didn’t work. Temperature was set using an electronic unit by the entrance. The furniture and fixtures are dated and visibly worn, and the bed felt extremely firm at first. The rooms could use a remodel before the hotel asks for a higher rating.

The location is the best, with the market and riverside both close by. The rooms are really nice, and the staff are very helpful. It’s easy to communicate with hotel management, and they speak English perfectly. I’d choose this hotel again and come back.

Breakfast has a good range of choices. The hotel is average and fairly central, around a 20 min walk to the night market and 15 min to central market.

I come back every year because this is a great place right on the river. The staff are impeccable, and the breakfast is undeniably delicious. They’ll help you sort out other travel arrangements too. I highly recommend it.
