Bokre Angkor Hostel

The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay, and they even served us breakfast after we’d checked out, which we really appreciated. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Pub street, with lots of grocery and food shops nearby. For a budget stay, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. There’s no lift and the rooms aren’t soundproof, but those things didn’t take much away from the experience. Great value for money and a pleasant stay. I’d recommend it to anyone after a clean, affordable option in Siem Reap.

What was meant to be one night turned into three weeks. The hostel was one of the most comfortable and accommodating places I’ve stayed. It’s run by a capable, thoughtful team who care about guests and the wider community. During my visit, staff organized a donation drive for families affected by the Thailand–Cambodia conflict, raising funds for people sheltering at a nearby pagoda. It was moving to see everyone at the hostel come together. The place is impressively well run, and communication and follow-through were excellent. I usually book tickets myself, but Bokre got better rates for massages, circus tickets, and currency exchange than I found at the local market. Booking through the hostel saved money and supports it through a small commission paid directly by the vendors. Special thanks to Panit and Heng. Their leadership, follow-through, and creative problem-solving made a big difference to my stay.

We had to stay a little longer than planned after food poisoning from a restaurant left us lying down for a few days. While we were recovering, we ate at the restaurant, where I can really recommend the chicken burger, and later spent time by the pool as we felt a bit better. The staff were really accommodating. Once we were well again, we booked the Angkor Wat tour through the hostel, rented a bike there, and had them arrange our trip to Koh Rong. The staff were lovely, the location was central, and the restaurant was a very decent bonus. The only downside was our fourth-floor room and no elevator, especially when we felt awful. That’s a pretty small complaint, though :)

The staff were amazing and always ready to help with whatever we needed. I kept seeing them clean the bathrooms and common areas, which was really reassuring. It’s the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in, so cheap too, and felt like a luxury hotel compared with most hostels in SE Asia.
