Bopha Pollen Hotel

What stood out most was how welcoming everyone was. Staff greeted us, asked about our day, and helped set up a tuk tuk driver for Angkor Wat. We used him for three full days, and he was friendly and excellent. There were also drivers at the hotel most of the time, with decent fares for getting around. Our room was spacious and nice, though it needed a thorough clean. The bathroom and walls were a bit dirty, and there was no soap. The pool was pleasant, but being near the front meant limited privacy. The restaurant was inexpensive with good service; the food was fine, if unremarkable. A couple of practical issues: the cleaners left our first-floor window open, which we only noticed in the evening after coming and going. The windows were blocked, so nobody could have got in, but it was still surprising. WiFi barely worked in our room, although it was fine in the lobby. Cleanliness felt about standard for Southeast Asia. I'd recommend staying here, especially for the very friendly staff.

We paid 36 USD a night with breakfast, which felt like decent value, though there are better hotels in Siem Reap. The staff were very welcoming and the rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was just average with limited options. The pool was tiny and oddly placed at the front, but it was private and didn't overlook anywhere.

The one bright spot was the delicious breakfast. Everything else made this trip much worse. We booked and paid a month ahead, but when we arrived at 10pm they said there was no room and sent us to a guest house with a dirty room and no hot water. Nobody apologized. After we contacted agoda, the hotel still didn't reply to our complaints. The swimming pool is only a small pond, so don't trust the fake pictures on google map.

I keep coming back whenever I'm in Siem Reap, and I love the place. The rooms are spacious and good value, with prices you can't find in Bangkok. Everything was hygienic, the staff are friendly, and the included breakfast is very good. Highly recommend it.
