Central Privilege Hotel

The staff were really kind, and it felt like they couldn’t do much about the state of the place. We compared notes with other Travellers, who had much better stays at hotels in a similar price range. We were moved to a room on the 4th floor after they found the AC in our original room wasn’t working. The rooms were spacious and quiet, but only average quality. With NO elevator, I had to haul 35 kg of luggage up and down a very long stairway. The wifi in the room was really slow. The water smelled of rust, including the drinking water, which probably made me sick. There were frequent shortages, and for several days we couldn’t shower comfortably. Breakfast was repetitive, limited, oily, and subbar.

We arrived to find exposed mains wiring IN THE BATHROOM and dirty towels in our first room, after they’d taken payment upfront. We said it was unsafe and asked to move. The next room had cockroaches and mosquitos, a bad drain smell, and dirty sheets. In the third room, we woke up covered in bites and found bed bugs in the bed. We had to pay out of hand to fumigate our luggage and clothes. We left after that. We are now having to take antibiotics for an infection picked up in the hotel. BE AWARE: this hotel uses two names, Central Indocrine d'angkor and Central Privilege Hotel, and has a lot of fake review and pictures to boot. We’d booked a room, but they took our money and, if you have issues, ghost you after you leave. We’ve asked the hotel and booking.com, and are still asking, for a full refund, but both deny responsibility. We’re still trying to contact the hotel and now have to take things further. This horrendous experience left a bad stain, quite literally, on our trip. Don’t let this place ruin your trip to angkor wat. We recommend The Urban, who swiftly picked us up and took us to their higher quality hotel at the same price point.

I felt genuinely valued from the moment I arrived at Central Privilege Hotel, Siem Reap. They had a refreshing welcome drink ready, and the staff greeted me with warm smiles and attentive care. They helped arrange tuk-tuk rides, book tours, and share local tips. Their sincere hospitality made a lasting impression. The place felt like a refined oasis, with elegant simplicity and thoughtful comfort.

The team were the best part of my stay. They were professional, polite, and helpful. The location is great, but I’d urge the owner or management to work on maintenance. There’s more competition in Siem Reap now, and some hotels have newer rooms with similar amenities at lower prices than Central privilege. I’d booked two rooms through Agoda after seeing amazing photos and a big discount. The check-in was smooth, handled by a professional trainee, with the invoices and other documents ready. But when I opened the room, it didn’t look like the Agoda photos. Maybe Agoda or the hotel management failed to update them, but something should be done. I then realized I wasn’t in the room I’d booked: I’d reserved a studio with balcony and pool view, but was given a Family deluxe room because the studios weren’t available. They said it was an upgrade. I was alone and had hoped to get the room I booked, but instead had a roof view.
