Golden Citadel Hotel

We felt safe with reception staffed around the clock, and the place was peaceful. There’s a little shop by reception for whatever you might need, and staff helped us sort out tuk-tuks and checkout times. They were friendly throughout, and the room was cleaned daily. The pool was gorgeous, clean, well kept, and sunny. Our bed was huge and comfortable, with fresh sheets every day. The bathroom was spacious, had two showers, and opened onto a balcony. After a year and a half traveling around Southeast Asia, this is easily our favorite stay. We loved it and recommend it wholeheartedly.

The restaurant was okay and inexpensive. We stayed at this nice hotel for our whole time in Siem Reap, and the pool and service were both great. Leaphy was especially helpful and suggested some good Angkor Wat tour options.

We were so glad we found Golden Citadel after a disastrous stay at another Siem Reap hotel. This family-run place has spacious, modern rooms, large bathrooms with both a shower and bath, and a private balcony overlooking the pool with a table and chairs for relaxing. Breakfast comes from a menu rather than a buffet. The pancakes with honey were amazing, and the coffee was strong and good. Tuk Tuks are usually waiting outside to take you around for just a couple of dollars. The hotel is a few kilometers from busy Pub Street, about a five-minute Tuk Tuk ride, but the quiet street means a good night's sleep without the loud music. We didn't need a scooter or expensive taxis; Tuk Tuks can take you anywhere, including on day trips to Ankor Watt. The location was a big plus for us, and the rates are very reasonable. We're coming back on our way through Cambodia next week and can't wait.

Dara was an amazing driver. We hired him for the day to visit the temples, showed him the route we'd drawn on a map, and he followed it, stopping whenever we asked. He even gave us water for free. The staff are helpful and smiley, and both the rooms and pool were consistently clean and presentable. It's a really nice place, though a bit far from the main streets. There are plenty of Tuk Tuks ready to drive you there.
