I love the location here, especially if you're after somewhere away from the chaotic backpacker part of the city. The hostel felt like a family, and Pablo the owner is a nice guy. Just don't take his lame jokes too seriously. There are cute cats around too. Rooms were fairly clean and the shower was good. You can't expect much when you're paying a couple of dollars.

The nature was beautiful, and I really enjoyed that part. The place itself felt idyllic, the owners were nice and helpful, and I met some nice people. Still, the toilet and shower weren't up to a good standard and could easily be improved. Mosquitoes often visited the shower, depending on the time of day, and there was hardly a way to keep them all out. I booked a single bed through hostelworld, but found only two multi-person rooms with bunk beds. I paid 7$ for two nights in a multidorm for up to six people, with air conditioning and some good mosquito protection. When someone came in or went out, mosquitoes got inside. The only way to fight them was strong air conditioning, which dried the air enough to make me sick. Honestly, if you're not a broke high school student on a super low budget, you don't want to see this city. Some parts look really disturbing.

I only had 3 days in Siem Reap, and Min helped me figure out what to do, set me up with a great tuktuk driver for town and Angkor Wat, and booked tickets for the Siem Reap circus. She and the team were welcoming and helpful, and the other guests were friendly too. I felt at home and really enjoyed my stay. I'd recommend Happy Hippies to backpackers in Siem Reap.

The market is an easy walk away, and you can rent bikes or scooters to head into town if needed. It’s a cozy place, and I’d recommend it to backpackers.

The bathrooms needed cleaning, there was no soap by the sinks, and the menu was really expensive. The doors and windows were left open, so the mosquitoes were awful, and the place didn’t have a good atmosphere. We’d booked online, but they’d oversold the beds and tried to make us pay extra for a better suite or leave, even though we already had a reservation. It could have been worse, but it definitely could have been better. The owner seemed focused on making money.
