Nature Boutique Residence Villa

We had booked three nights but left after the first. The bar and restaurant were unapologetically closed, which would have mattered less if the place were closer to town. When we asked about our complimentary breakfast, the manager seemed offended. The rooms are big and pretty, but gaps around both doors let mosquitoes in. The pool is used by local kids learning to swim, which I suppose is a good thing.

The owner and staff were very helpful, and the tuk-tuk driver from the neighborhood spoke good English, understood what I wanted, and didn’t try to rip me off. That isn’t something you can take for granted in Siem Reap. I booked him for a three-day trip to the Angkor Wat temples. The taxi cost $80, including cold bottled water, which is really important to have. For town, the center with shops and restaurants is 1.6 km away by tuk-tuk, and the fare should be $2. The pool was clean, with towels always available, and the breakfast was decent and safe to eat. Lunch and dinner were good too, at prices the same as or lower than downtown. Rooms are large and clean, with what you’d expect, plus a patio, shower, and bathtub. The little forest around the houses seemed to be the only place I could find without mosquitoes. After dark, they were everywhere else in the city. For a very reasonable price, this was the best place in Siem Reap for me. If I come back, I won’t choose another hotel.

I stayed for two months in the off season. The setting and pool were fantastic when the pool was clean, and the two women running the place were friendly and helpful. The restaurant menu was very limited, probably because it was the off season. Use PassApp for cheap rides into town. My one complaint was the number of mosquitoes. I caught dengue fever.

The place is beautiful and peaceful, and it’s only about a five-minute tuk-tuk ride to town. The staff were lovely, and the rooms were nice. There are no plugs beside the bed, though, and there were lots of mosquitoes outside the rooms. Grab was much more convenient than trying to find a taxi or tuk-tuk, and the rates were cheaper too.
