The garden feels like a little oasis away from the busy streets, with a lovely layout and a pool right in the middle. Staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Our room had a comfortable bed and beautiful temple-inspired decor, and they kept it clean. We had a great stay here. There are some mosquitos outside, maybe because of the fish ponds, but it wasn’t too bad.

The staff were very nice, but I was so glad to leave and wouldn’t come back. The AC didn’t work, so I sweated and stayed awake until 5am, finally falling asleep from exhaustion. The room was very dark, and once inside I could hardly tell what time it was. Mosquitos kept me company too. They were stingy with soap. I got one new bar in 5 nights, and when I asked for another bar, they put shampoo in the soap dish instead. The location could have been better.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and they did try to sort out the hot water when I complained. That’s why I felt 2 stars would be unfair, despite the accommodation problems. It’s handy for Pub Street, with eateries nearby, and the large pool is decent. The sun lounges are more like chairs, though. Make sure you get an upper-floor room if you book. We were on the ground floor right beside the pool, and our room was damp and musty. I even woke to condensation on the floor, and the damp got into our clean, dry clothes. Staff didn’t understand or acknowledge that there was a problem. The room was large, with a bath and shower and decor inspired by Angkor temples. Toiletries were limited, and there was one complimentary bottle of water per person each day, plus a kettle and hot drinks. Hot water only came in the mornings for the first two days, then was available on our last evening. The AC didn’t cool the room, it just circulated air, and it was loud. The ceiling fan was very loud too. Room service was a quick bin empty, bed make, and towel fold. Breakfast was a limited buffet one day and a set menu the next. The breakfast staff spoke little English but tried hard to understand. It was value for money, provided you’re on an upper floor.

The room was very dark, even with every light on, and there wasn’t a bright spot where I could see well enough to shave in the mirror. The shower was a lingam rather than a regular fixture, and the poor water flow meant washing took longer than usual. We had a pleasant couple of nights in Seim Reap. The staff were very kind, breakfast was pretty nice, and the pool could fit about four people at once. Our room had a comfortable balcony overlooking the pool and about 5 mirrors. The air conditioner was gentle, but quite loud.

I was booked for 2 nights, but they seem to overbook often. They sent me and another couple to one of their other 3 hotels in the neighbourhood. I returned for my second night because I wasn’t happy with that other hotel. While waiting at reception, I saw several customers complaining. The reception staff were kind, and the manager was friendly and accommodating. Avoid the ground floor, which is very dark and damp. My room (#4) had noisy air conditioning. The breakfast buffet wasn’t great either. The food was already prepared and not kept in warmers. I don’t understand the hotel’s high score. For the same price, BayStone Resort next door has a much better room and breakfast cooked to order.
