Tareach Angkor Villa

The owners and staff were fantastic, and the breakfast was great. It’s a very nice family-run hotel, around a 5-10 minute walk from Pub Street. Across the road, on the corner, we found a lovely little restaurant. The menu was small, but the food was perfect. We ate there two nights in a row, and had the best fried dumplings we’ve had anywhere 😋

After one night we told the staff we wanted to leave the next morning instead of staying longer. They made it sound like changing the checkout date was too complicated and said they’d lost our receipt. We kept insisting, and then they found it right on the desk and acted as though they didn’t know how to change the date. After a long discussion, they crossed out the old date and wrote the following day, even though we’d told them the night before that we wanted to leave. I’ve never stayed anywhere dustier. I showed staff a photo of the dust on the cabinet and mentioned the fridge and ceiling fan too. The cabinet doors were covered as well. When I came back that evening, they’d only cleaned the visible sides of the fan. Nothing else. For the first time in years, I had to take medication for my dust allergy in a hotel. I’ve stayed in cheaper places in Siem Reap and Thailand that were cleaner. I can forgive a little mold in a climate where guests shower several times a day, but the orangey chalk buildup under the bathtub faucet looked like it had been there a while. They also use the front desk hall as a garage.

We switched here partway through our trip after leaving another hotel, and this place now has a special spot in my heart. It felt like staying with family. Everyone was helpful, from the maids to room service, and everything was perfect. They offer plenty of ways to save money, and the food is marvelous. They’ll cook it to your specifications ❤️❤️ You can pay more elsewhere, but you won’t get better service. Old-school terrific, I love this place!

It’s a good value in a central area that stays quiet, and there’s a shop right outside the entrance for snacks and drinks. The family running it are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to help. The rooms are kept in good shape. Don’t hesitate to stay here, and ask for a balcony room overlooking the pool.
