THE BEIGE

The area is remote, so it’s good that the food is delicious and there aren’t other options nearby. We mostly relaxed and listened to the jungle sounds. There are only a few rooms, with plenty of staff around to make the stay feel easygoing and well cared for. We tried the picnic at a nearby temple from their list of activities, and really enjoyed it. In the morning a local elephant came by, then some buffaloes. A unique glamping stay just a few kilometres from Angkor Wat. Thanks to the lovely staff for making it special.

The staff were wonderfully kind and accommodating, always ready to answer questions. Our tent was spacious, clean, tastefully furnished, and had nice amenities. There was even a phone with reception’s number already saved, plus mosquito repellent, which I appreciated since I react badly to bites. I loved the outdoor shower under the stars, though shower quickly because December evenings are cold. Outside the tent there was a porch swing, a nice spot for a nap or to watch the water buffalo grazing. The pool was immaculate and another good place to nap. You can take the hotel tuk-tuk into the city center, about a 30-minute ride. Do yourself a favor and book a room at The Beige. Relax and enjoy the delicious welcome drink.

The Beige is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Siem Reap, and I’d suggest spending a few nights there. The tent is spacious, with antique-style furniture, and the staff are attentive to the little details. Service is top-notch, and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The temple picnic activity is well worth trying.

There were more staff than guests, which I’d never experienced before. They were extremely helpful and friendly in a relaxed, personal way, more like friends than the formal service at Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. The service was impeccable, and the room was beautiful. We did hear loud music from neighbors, often around 6-8am. It came through as more of a bass thump, though my light-sleeping partner slept through it all three nights. Our pool and the shared pool could also use more regular cleaning, since there was some algae and insects.
