Viva Hotel (Be VIP)

The front desk staff were helpful, the sheets were clean, and the Wi-Fi worked well. I spent two nights in a family room and one in a couple room, both at an affordable price. Pub Street is only about a two-minute walk away, with food easy to find nearby. Try the $1 pancake and juice. The AC worked well except in the couple room on the rooftop fourth floor on my last day. At noon it wasn’t cooling, and the room got really hot. There’s no lift, just stairs.

I was very disappointed for the price. The bathroom was covered in mould, the toilet was filthy, the toilet rolls looked waterlogged, and there were water stains on the room walls, all in a room sold as Deluxe. At checkout, their Visa machine wouldn’t work and they insisted I withdraw cash from an ATM. I asked for a $5 discount to cover the withdrawal fee, but they refused, so we argued about it for 30 minutes. I won’t be back.

For the price range, the deluxe room had quite a bit of space compared with other hotels that looked nicer. The room wasn’t very clean, though, especially the bathroom.

The room was clean, and the staff were really nice. It’s a cheap hotel with very good service, close to Pub Street and the market. I’d definitely recommend it.
