The Palm Palace Resort

Breakfast was a mess: food ran low and wasn’t replenished, tables stayed dirty, and the whole setup felt unhygienic. On 19th February, at the noodle station, I was left waiting while the staff member served everyone else, even though I speak fluent Khmer. When I was finally acknowledged, I was given a bowl that had been left to the side, with ingredients I hadn’t asked for. I felt singled out and treated unfairly. The hotel also smelled foul throughout, even around nearby areas. Dirty sheets were piled in the hallways, and the rooms had visible dirt, mould, and scum. They clearly hadn’t been properly detailed or deep cleaned. There were exposed wires near a lamp, which felt unsafe. Sleep was difficult for several reasons. The mattresses were extremely hard, and their plastic protectors rustled whenever we moved and didn’t let the beds breathe. Noise from bars across the road went on all night. WiFi rarely worked, and one window had no curtain, letting in light at unwanted hours and leaving little privacy. When I asked about fixing it, the request was denied. It was a very unpleasant stay. With the hygiene and safety problems, unreliable WiFi, lack of privacy, uncomfortable beds, poor breakfast service, and the way I was treated, I wouldn’t recommend Palm Hotel unless major improvements are made.

I booked through the app, but had to wait when I arrived because the staff hadn’t assigned me a room. They then gave my room to another guest and said we had already opened it. After that, they moved me to a smaller room than the one I’d booked. Poor customer service.

There was loud music outside until 6AM, so it would’ve helped if staff had suggested a room farther from the beach. The room itself was clean, but cost significantly more than other local options. I should’ve researched more beforehand. I’d suggest looking at quieter, more affordable places. If the noise doesn’t bother you and you’re okay paying a premium, though, this might suit you.

The view was the one good thing, but it didn’t make the stay worthwhile. At The Palm Hotel, noise from nearby restaurants and bars, including parties that went on all night, kept me from sleeping. My room also had a strong, unpleasant smell that made it hard to relax. Breakfast was disappointing too, with few options and poor quality food that didn’t taste fresh. The stay fell short of expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a restful or enjoyable visit.
