Botoum Hotel

The staff were helpful, and there’s plenty of parking. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, with the amenities well equipped. It’s a reasonably priced place in town. The air conditioning ran a little warm instead of blowing properly cold air. WiFi was fast, but the lag and unpredictability made it unsuitable for gaming. I’d be happy to come back.

We liked being able to refill our bottles from the large blue container at reception, which helped us avoid plastic waste. The room and bathroom were fairly spacious and generally clean. The hotel is quiet, with lots of rooms, tucked at the end of a dead-end street. It’s centrally located in Sisophon, just a few minutes’ walk from the central park and other conveniences. You can choose air conditioning or just a fan, which suited us since we wanted to save energy by not using AC.

I first stayed at Botoum while bike touring in Cambodia, back when it was a small, single-storey guest house. The following year, construction was underway, and the owner told us about plans to expand the hotel. On my last visit, three years ago, I was struck by how nice the place had become. The staff were still excellent, the rooms clean and pleasant, and the AC and WiFi were good. I’ve stayed here five or six times over the years and hope to return in 2022, if the country lets vaccinated foreigners in.

The room was clean and neatly arranged, and the staff were friendly and provided good service. It’s in the center of Bunteay Mean hey province and costs a reasonable amount. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a hotel.
