Sunset Reef St.Kitts

The sunsets were incredible, and we loved sitting outside on the patio furniture by the cozy fire. Our family stay at Sunset Reef was just what we hoped for. The room was clean and ready right away, and I was very happy to find a Nespresso machine. I had two cups every day! A taxi the hotel had arranged was waiting when we arrived. Natasha and Joel welcomed us with drinks and cold towels. Each morning the staff were so nice, and Christine, our waitress, kept bringing us ice water. Benjamin, the engineer, made sure the kids could enjoy the pool and even inflated fun floaties for them. The boys also went kayaking at the beach. A snowstorm cancelled our flights, so Joel and Natasha happily moved us to a two-bedroom room. It was exceptional, with impeccable views, and the weather was perfect as well. The food and drinks were great, and there was live music with a band. Between the beach access, gorgeous hidden-away nooks, and sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea, it’s a beautiful place to unwind. The rooms are lovely, and the pool area feels peaceful and is laid out so well. Absolutely stunning resort. Highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely be back!

The kitchen was in terrible shape, with a huge fly problem that made breakfast a nightmare. The road where Sunset Reef in St Kitts is located also felt uninviting and unsafe to walk along at night. I paid attention to the rates because they were outrageous, up to $1,500. In my opinion, around $650 should be the maximum. I’ve stayed at luxury places like the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton for roughly the same nightly price of $1,500, and the experience there is unparalleled. Sunset Reef was nowhere near that level, and I felt completely scammed. It should be a 3 star hotel. The hotel industry isn’t regulated, and nobody checks whether the star rating is correct, because there’s no way this is a 5 stars hotel. I’m extremely disappointed that big chains like Hilton support small hotels that don’t meet their usual standards.

The grounds at Sunset Reef were spacious, clean, and beautifully planted, with monkeys in the mango tree at the back. Views from every room and the infinity pool were spectacular, and the pathways were lovely to walk around. Our room was roomy, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. The managers and staff were personal and accommodating. We also loved Drop Anchor Grill, where the food was fresh, handmade, and tasty. It seems like a great place for a couple, a family, or a group of friends and family. This place does not disappoint.
