Hotel Adela

The bathroom had a nice harbor view, but there was no shower curtain, so water sprayed everywhere. I also found garbage under the bed. The room itself felt dingy, with old stained carpet and patchy wallpaper, and it smelled of smoke. There are three elevators that don’t coordinate with each other. Full ones kept going past, so waits were 10-20 minutes. Hotel ratings in Korea are NOT based on quality.

Getting around the hotel was frustrating, especially at busy times. There are three lifts, but only one reaches every floor. Another serves odd-numbered floors, and the third only even-numbered floors. All three stop on the 8th floor because of the gym. During breakfast or checkout, they get packed. After breakfast on the 24th floor, it took me over 30 minutes to reach my room on the 7th. A complete waste of time. Breakfast hours, 7am to 10am, are ridiculous too. They should run from at least 6am to 10 or 11am like other hotels. The food itself wasn’t special and there were very few choices. The hotel shares its building with the North Harbor Hotel, and the lobby entrance showing both names can be confusing. A 24-hour mart beside the lobby is handy for late-night food, and Lotte Mall is within walking distance. My room was okay and had a good view, but the AC kept shutting off after a few minutes. I called for help a couple of times. They gave a strange explanation that the temperature couldn’t be set higher than 23 degrees or something, which may explain why it switched off when I’d set it to 24. I’ve never encountered such a weird system in a hotel. I probably won’t stay again unless there’s no other choice.

The bay view was striking, and the hotel sits right in the heart of the city. The beds were really soft, and I found the stay comfortable and worth the price.

The online photos make the hotel look bigger and newer than it is. In reality, it’s older and smaller, and I wouldn’t call it a true 4-star place. A rating around 3.5 seems fair, closer to 3-star.
