K79 Guesthouse

I liked the roomy downstairs area where people could hang out, and there was free toast and cereal for breakfast. The owner was really friendly, and the hostel felt homey. It's near the markets and an easy enough walk to the sights. I met some nice travelers too. Had a nice stay.

The dorms felt unusually roomy, with beds almost the size of doubles and huge lockers. It was so well equipped that at times it felt more like a boutique hotel. Shops and street food are right nearby, and the location is good, though the subway is a 15-minute walk and the port about 20 minutes on foot.

I really liked staying here. It's reasonably priced, close to the station, and near lots of nice places. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast is included, and guests can use the kitchen equipment and fridge. Laundry is free, though detergent costs 1,000 won. They've set aside a separate pan for Muslim guests, while the other utensils are still shared. I hope they keep improving the hostel to make it more Muslim-friendly.

The hygiene problems were serious: the cafeteria appliances and fridge were filthy, the air conditioner looked moldy, and the bathroom floor flooded after every shower. The staff at reception were unfriendly when I arrived, and although I'd messaged earlier to ask about checking in early, I got no reply. When I asked in person, I was told early check-in wasn't allowed even though there weren't many guests. I had booked six nights through Agoda because of the good reviews. After I told Agoda about the cleanliness issues, they contacted the owner, and I was immediately called down to reception. The hostel said I couldn't stay because I'd complained and told me to leave, despite my six-night booking after just one night there. They did give me a full refund, but I had to find somewhere at the last minute at a higher price. I hate leaving a review like this, especially for a business recovering from Covid, but this is one of the worst hostels I've stayed in. I also wrote to Korea Tourism Organisaiton about it. Please avoid this place.
