Popcorn Hostel Haeundae

I slept really well because the room was SUPER QUIET. The brick walls kept outside noise out, and I didn’t hear anything from outside. Check-in and check-out were easy. You do have to take out your own trash and pillow linen. I was traveling alone, but during cherry blossom peak season I booked a Double room for S$60+. It was set up for six people, with one queen bed and four bunk beds, so there was loads of space and I had my own bathroom. The downside was the cold. The heater couldn’t warm the room or bed enough, and the bathroom got very cold at night. There was hot water, but the air was so chilly I didn’t dare shower. I spent the night tucked in bed. They could improve the heating for winter and spring. The hotel occupies the 10th and 11th floors of a building, with a lift. It’s quiet but felt safe, and Haeundae beach is only a five-minute walk away.

POPCORN HOSTEL was a great budget option, and it didn’t feel like quality had been sacrificed. The staff were really friendly and happy to help with directions and recommendations. It’s also conveniently close to Haeundae Beach, a major attraction, so getting out to explore the city was easy.

The room was big, but four extra beds felt unnecessary. A work desk and closet would’ve been much more useful. There was also a cigarette smell coming through the ventilation. I was shocked by the bathroom. It hadn’t been cleaned: used soaps with hair on them, contact lenses, toothpaste residue, and stains on the toilet seat. I had to scrub the seat myself with soap. I told the receptionist, who said he’d clean it, but when I came back it was still the same. He’d only changed the trash bag.

The staff made it feel like home from my first day, and there were other families with children staying during my visit too. I really liked seeing the staff spend time with guests in such a warm, family-like atmosphere. They’re kind and willing to help with requests, and it was always fun. The rooms were very clean, and I enjoyed hanging out in the common room with the TV. There’s lots of guest-made art on the walls, so you should visit and make some art of your own. The hostel’s location gives it a lovely view. It’s on the 11th floor, the top floor of the building, and there’s a rooftop where you can enjoy a BBQ, smoke, or take in views in every direction. They also have events, like a night view tour around Busan. With this staff and view, it was an absolutely great stay. Thanks for everything, and keep up the good work. Good luck!
