Seven Motel

I almost feel bad giving this place one star. During the Gwangalli Fireworks Festival, I watched a 40,000 won motel room somehow become 170,000 won. I’ll let that slide since it was a special period. The room itself was another story. There was no heating, just an electric blanket on the bed that didn’t work. The only window was broken and wouldn’t shut properly, and its insect screen was shattered. The ceiling and walls were stained, probably from a burst sprinkler, and the stale cigarette smell hit as soon as I walked in. Street noise came through so clearly it felt like people were whispering right next to me. I thought a sauna might have been better. The warm water was about the only plus, but it kept switching between hot and cold, like being at a grandmother’s house in the countryside. Surprisingly, even with the window not fully closed, there wasn’t much of a draft. There was mold everywhere, and the pillows were so dusty I wondered if they ever cleaned. It felt like a rip-off, but I had no choice and stayed. Oddly, I slept really well and woke up refreshed. Maybe the place has good vibes. I probably won’t return, but if my energy ever runs low, I might consider it.
