When did the valley in front of the pension become private property? I checked with the county office, and they said they don't have authority to control access. Why should we have to follow arbitrary rules and leave the valley? The owner asked why we were there even though we were just hanging out in front of the pension we'd reserved. They didn't have to say "leave" for it to feel like they were telling us to go. If you tell someone to leave and then deny you meant it, who would believe you? Pension owner, you're better off leaving than coming back.

The owner was really kind, and the stream and campfire were great. House No. 1 is clean, though it has that old-fashioned, Grandma's-house feel. Being up in the mountains means dealing with bugs, of course.
