The owner was attentive and welcoming, and the coffee shop is a handy place to rest, use the restroom, or refill water. I also noticed a washing machine. There are lots of nearby restaurants, and the mountain food I tried was stunning. I'd love to come back in another season to see Mt Jiri change and enjoy that hospitality again. The hotel has been renovated recently and is exceptionally clean, with a great location and good value for hikers heading to Nogodan or Mt Jiri, and Buddhists wanting to stay near Hwaeom Temple. The lobby and hallways carry sound easily, though. Quiet hours start at 10 PM, so keep voices down then. If noise affects your sleep, bring earplugs. The name is pronounced “Haet-ssal.” “Haet-ssal” means sunlight, so in Korean it's “Jirisan haet-ssal,” or “Mt. Jiri Sunlight.”

The owner was so caring and helpful, and even drove me where I needed to go when necessary. I felt welcome from the moment I arrived, and the hospitality made the stay special. I had an amazing time and would recommend this place to everyone.

The owner was warm, thoughtful, and helpful, including with local suggestions. The rooms were very clean, and there are artistic touches throughout, especially in the cafeteria. I suspect the owner is an artist. The hotel is older, but it's been well maintained. A lovely stay at Hotel Jirisan Sunlight (Jirisan Haetsal)!

We spent three nights in a balcony room facing Jirisan. There's a stream behind the hotel, and if you follow it past the bridge toward Jirisan National Park, there's a small way down to the water. Be careful, the steps are made of large rocks. Breakfast and good coffee are available to order. The owner and staff are very kind. We'll be back!

I only stayed one night and already wish I'd booked more. Uncle and Neview welcomed me so warmly, with free snacks, including my favorite kind of dried persimmon, the firm kind, plus the best ginger tea. The art of Mr. Bean, plants, and paper dolls made everything so beautiful. My Ondol room was spotless, cozy, and really warm. The location is great too. I'll definitely return, Thank you 😊
