GaEunChae gave me a memorable night in a traditional hanok, sleeping on a futon right in the historic village. The underfloor heating kept things cozy, and the host sent clear arrival directions. Self check-in was flexible and easy, with access details by WhatsApp and my name on a whiteboard outside the assigned hanok. I could also leave my bags in the common room after checkout. A few practical details were less ideal. The room was small, with no cabinet and only two hangers, and the towels were quite small, so I needed more than one. There was a kettle, though tea or coffee in the room would have been nice. The building isn't soundproof, and sounds from neighboring rooms may carry, so it may not suit someone seeking complete quiet. Towels, with more in the common room, shampoo and shower gel were provided, and the shower had hot water. Breakfast isn't included, but there are plenty of nearby choices with lovely views, and a convenience store is at the alley's end.

Staying in a hanok here is an affordable option, and the exterior is beautiful. Gaeunchae is in a great spot in the village, with historical sights, shops and well-known restaurants close by. The host was responsive and helpful in English on WhatsApp, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. The shower had great hot water. The room and toilet were quite small, and the air-con dripped a lot when switched on. The futon may also be uncomfortable if you don't like sleeping on a hard surface.

It's right in the middle of the Korean village, but the rooms are tiny, about the size where two double beds would fill one completely, maybe smaller. There was no service. Towels have to be collected from the laundry room in the yard. There are two small yards, and the main one is a little bigger, with a couple of chairs and a table. That's the smoking area.

A lovely spot for a hanok stay, right in the village center but tucked away enough for a quiet night's sleep. Our room looked out toward the local library, which was a nice view and gave us extra shade. It was on the small side, but had everything we needed.

The price was so cheap compared with a hotel, and food places were close by in this tourist area. It was a really comfortable, peaceful stay. Sleeping on a futon in a hanok with the ondol heated floor was an amazing experience.
