Ramada Encore by Wyndham Pyeongtaek

I booked five days but left after just one night for a better hotel. The bed was bad, and the view was terrible unless you like looking into the neighbors' windows. The location wasn't good, and although parking is available, the spaces are very small. The refrigerator kept switching off because its connection was loose, so I had to wiggle the cord to get it working. The staff spoke English pretty well.

The hotel is okay, and breakfast is free, so I suppose there's not much reason to complain. Still, since the latest update the choices have been limited: no more salad, and the good coffee machine has been removed. The showers don't always have hot water either.

The staff were polite and very helpful, and most of the hotel staff spoke some English. The rooms were nice, but the beds and pillows were rock hard, so bring your own pillow and an air mattress. We tried breakfast once and that was enough. It was kimchi in several varieties, rice water, cold scrambled eggs, and rock-hard frozen waffles. This isn't a breakfast for westerners.

On checkout, around 0930 on 29 July 2018, I was extremely annoyed by the receptionist's unprofessional, catty behavior. She didn't greet or acknowledge me while I stood at the desk, hoping for some customer service. When I raised my room concern, she was aloof and disrespectful, with a short, arrogant response that ruined my whole Ramada experience. I couldn't work out the bathroom sink's "push and seal" pop-up drain, so throughout my stay I thought it was broken and used the shower for anything involving the sink. I was exhausted and didn't want to raise something that might mean changing rooms. On vacation, I want a home-away-from-home feel, not to spend time figuring out a drain that works differently from the usual kind. Maybe I'm not used to modern conveniences, but I still shouldn't have been treated that way.
