The room was in awful shape. There was blood on the walls, lots of debris on the floor, and only one toilet seat, with the sizes mismatched. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut. I was so disappointed that I didn’t stay the night. I just showered and went back home early in the morning.

I needed somewhere reasonably priced during the holiday season. After booking, I checked Agoda and saw loads of bad reviews, so I went in expecting the worst. It turned out better than I’d expected, maybe because I’d already read so much criticism. I knew there’d be no refrigerator. People also complained about the TV, and there were no terrestrial channels, but Google TV let me watch YouTube. The internet kept disconnecting, though, and there was no Wi-Fi. The bathroom really was as unusual as people said, with wood paneling and bamboo. There was no way to keep out sounds or smells. My room faced the road, so I could clearly hear car engines and motorcycle exhaust. The bed was a little hard, but the blanket and pillow were fine, and the AC worked, so I slept okay. Holiday season guesthouses were over 150,000 won, while this place was half that price. For that, I thought it was worth it.
