Eins Hotel

It’s an older hotel in the Seogwipo area, near Jeonbang waterfall. The standard room has a queen bed and a single, so there’s a decent amount of space for the price. They mainly use floor heating, and all the water heaters worked well. The bathroom and toilet have heavy, sturdy glass doors. There are lots of good places to eat nearby, including black pork barbecue and fried chicken, the chicken-and-beer kind you see in K-dramas. I’ve heard the abalone porridge is good too. If you’re exploring around Seogwipo, it could be worth trying for the better price.

The staff are good people, and I’d happily come back for them. We stayed three nights and were more than satisfied. The location is great, with a sushi restaurant on one side, black pork BBQ on the other, and what I think was a coffee shop about 2 mi away. The front desk gentleman was friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned daily. My only real complaint was the firm mattress. By night three I was fed up with it, though I guess that’s common in Korean hotels. I’d put the place at 3-4 stars, but the low price earned it a 5 from me. Breakfast was okay and only 6000 won, but the menu barely changed, so I ate the same things each morning. I’d have paid more for more variety, especially since not much is open in the morning and coffee shops around here don’t open until 8 am. I’ve stayed in this area half a dozen times over the past 10 years and always had a good experience.

The breakfast was very good, with both Korean and Western food, and the breakfast room had a beautiful view. They also offered valet parking, so finding a space wasn’t a worry. But the hotel is off a busy street, and after I asked for an ocean view, the front desk said the room would face the sea. It actually faced the street, which was a big disappointment. The bed was uncomfortable too.

We spent five nights here. The employees were great and the location was good, though the included breakfast from 7 till 9 had very little choice. The rooms were spacious, but I found they weren’t very clean when I looked under the bed. Given the ratings and reviews on booking.com and Google, I’d expected more. For the price, it’s still a good deal, just keep your expectations modest.
