My first trip to Korea turned into a really upsetting experience. We stayed in Room 502, Building D, at this beautiful place, but the guesthouse was filthy. The decor looked luxurious, though it seemed the room was rarely used. The owner, Liu, told us it was occupied only once or twice a year. It was dusty, and the air conditioner had a musty smell. My quilt and pillow, as well as the bathroom towels and bath towels, all smelled strange. The quilt had a sweaty odor even after I changed it and put it in the dressing room, which looked as if it had been washed. The quilts in the other rooms smelled even more moldy. On the night we checked in, a friend in our group said the room was dirty and needed cleaning. They brought over a vacuum and asked the owner how to use it. His wife, Xiaoyanzi, said she had never used it because she didn’t know how. We ended up wiping with a rag, and my friend tried toilet paper too, but it was still black and dirty. Does this suggest that there was no professional housekeeping or cleaning? The morning after that one night, my left eye was bloodshot, and I had several small, itchy red spots that might have been insect bites. I photographed them and sent the pictures to the owner, but got no reply. Then my eyes became increasingly uncomfortable, and my right eye started turning red too. Both were bloodshot, swollen, itchy and hot, with light sensitivity, nerve pain, headaches, and heavy discharge. Eye drops I bought didn’t help. In a foreign country where I knew little and faced a language barrier, I had to find an ophthalmologist. The doctor diagnosed acute keratitis and said it could be contagious and needed at least two weeks of treatment. I went to two pharmacies before finding the prescribed drops. The rest of the trip left my friends and me anxious and afraid, and seriously disrupted our plans and mood. After I returned to China, I saw an ophthalmologist the same day. The diagnosis was acute conjunctivitis, which could be contagious. I need continued follow-up and treatment, or I risk going blind. The stress has seriously affected my work and my family’s quality of life. I also have elderly relatives with weakened immune systems and cancer, which makes this especially frightening and frustrating. I asked a friend who traveled with me to pass the message to Liu, but there was still no reply, not even a word of concern. They even asked my friend to leave the group chat. Please take care if you’re considering a stay at this poorly run and unscrupulous place!

It’s a decent place to stay in Jungmun. My only real issue was that there was a pot but no knife, so I couldn’t cut up any fruit.

I was here for a conference and found the place spacious, clean, and quiet. It’s right beside the beach, the facilities are new, and the beds were clean too. Seems like it would be a great choice for a family trip.
