Cheonggye Haus

The room worked well for one person, and check-in was easy thanks to clear instructions. I appreciated the fridge, washing machine, kettle, and body lotion, and the manager was quick to help whenever something came up. The heated floor was great, but in -7c weather the big windows let in a lot of cold, even with an extra heater. The bathroom was especially freezing, and climbing to the fifth floor without an elevator got tiring. Cheonggye Haus was a good stay, just better suited to seasons other than winter.

Cheonggyecheon views from the property were lovely, and the location made getting around easy, with Euljiro 4-ga and Jongno 5-ga stations, bus stops, Gwangjang Market, and Abebe Bakery all nearby. The area felt safe, even though it gets quite dark at night. Towels, toiletries, a hairdryer, and free water in the fridge were provided, and the host let me take the bottle I hadn't managed to drink. The main hassle was carrying luggage up to the fifth floor since there's no elevator, though the host kindly helped. The bathroom could use a bit more cleaning; otherwise, I was very happy.

The owner, Jae Hoon, was a friendly local with a great personality. We had drinks with a friend one evening, and I was glad to meet him. The room was quiet and peaceful, just right for a solo traveler, with shops right outside along the Cheonggyechen. It had pretty much everything at hand: a washer, clean dishes, heating, a flat iron to cook on, internet TV, a water kettle for clean water, and air conditioning. At $200 a week, it felt completely worth it. If you're in Yeji Dong in Jongnogu, this is a great place to stay. I had an unforgettable South Korea trip and hope to come back. 10 out of 10 if I could give it that rating.

I spent 8 days here and really enjoyed it. The location felt safe and was great, with 3 metro lines within walking distance. The owner was kind, spoke good English, and helped with my bags. My small, cosy room had everything I needed, including free towels, TV, free wifi, a hair drayer, shampoo and soap, a fridge, and a free laundry machine. I'd happily recommend it.
