Forêt Guest House

This is my last day staying in apartment 201 at Foret Guesthouse/ Ryu Guesthouse in Gangnam-gu Seoul, and I've really enjoyed my time here. Foret Guesthouse is on flat ground, which was a big help for my Adelaide legs with all of Seoul's hills. Suitcases are easy to manage here, and it's especially convenient if you're having surgery and want to avoid inclines. I traveled completely alone as a woman and was nervous about walking around by myself, but the neighborhood felt very safe, with CCTV cameras everywhere. People at nearby businesses were friendly and smiled, which isn't the custom here. I forgot a bag at the store and started dropping my things, and someone offered me theirs. There's a school, parks, and lots of convenience stores nearby. It's between two train stations, both surprisingly easy to use. I grew up in Sydney and am used to trains, but this system is very easy too. The owner of Foret Guest House is very kind and friendly, easy to approach, and often around helping guests and checking if they need anything or are doing all right. No creepy vibes. The apartment was so clean that I couldn't find anything to clean while recovering from surgery and looking for something to do. Not a speck of dust, the cutlery drawer was impeccable, the microwave spotless, and even the washing machine's lint filters were clean. The airport bus stop is less than a 10-minute walk away, which makes getting there more affordable. I'd recommend this place for solo travelers, women traveling alone, families or groups, people having surgery, anyone with heavy luggage, anyone who wants to avoid steep hills, and people looking for a safe area, friendly staff, and easy transport. The location is excellent, with trendy bars, upscale restaurants, and shopping nearby. It's central too, just a short cab or train ride to places around Seoul, and the Incheon airport is about a 45- to 1-hour drive away. Staff can arrange an airport ride at a better price than a regular Uber, which is good value. It's tucked away on a quiet little street, and the rooms are clean and spacious, with a nice modern wet bathroom. We didn't use the kitchen or common area, but both are available for preparing and eating meals. There was no elevator, and staff helped us with our bags.

The room was tidy and had a kitchen and laundry machine, and the host was nice and replied quickly. It's a quiet residential area, with a 24-hour CU convenience store just a 5-minute walk away. Getting around takes longer: the bus is a 10-minute walk and the subway is 15 minutes away, including a 100-meter hill. There's no elevator, and the check-in address might change before your arrival date.

The room had a cozy feel, with four beds in one room. I stayed for one night, and Apgujeong station is just a 3-minute walk away.
