For $64 a night, my single room was a decent fit if you’re fine without extra frills. This is definitely a budget hotel. It sits in central Seoul, within walking distance of buses and subway stations, though it’s tucked into an alley. That kept my room quiet despite the busy surroundings, but restaurant rubbish nearby sometimes smelled pretty bad. The alley looked a bit dodgy at night, although we never felt unsafe. The room was cramped, and I wouldn’t want to share it with a partner. My friend and I each booked a room because they were so affordable, and I’m glad we did. The bed and pillows were firm but comfortable for me; my friend prefers a softer mattress. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room comfortable. There’s only a small divider between the walk-in shower and the rest of the bathroom, so water gets everywhere, including when I tried different places to stand. Using the handheld shower in a corner and turning off the water to soap up before rinsing helped. It was a hassle, but manageable, and shower shoes were provided. The water pressure was very good. Free laundry is available in the basement, which is handy, but there’s just one washer and one dryer, so plan ahead. All in all, it worked well for me as long as I didn’t expect a bunch of extras.

The room’s plain and simple, but it had what I needed, and the price was good. There’s free self-service laundry downstairs, plus a decent view from the rooftop. The location is especially handy for a first visit to Seoul, since I could walk to most of the tourist attractions.

I stayed at The Grid Inn in early November 2025 on my first trip to South Korea, and I was really impressed. The staff I met were warm and helpful, always saying hello and chatting a little, and speaking with them in English was easy. The rooms are small, but two of us managed fine with two large suitcases, two small ones, and all our shopping. Beds were clean and comfortable, and even though the hotel is just off a main road, street noise was barely noticeable. The location made getting around and finding food simple. Two subway lines are only a few minutes away, with loads of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, including tasty, inexpensive options. The free laundry was easy to use, and it meant almost all my clothes were clean and ready to put away when I got home. I’ve already told friends about the hotel, and I’m planning to return to Seoul next year. I’ll definitely stay here again. Thank you!

The location and rooms were great, and the staff were nice. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. My only gripe is that there’s no shower divider, so the whole bathroom gets wet.

I came away with mixed feelings. The rooms are decent, the Wi-Fi is good, and the hotel is close to a metro stop. The laundry machines are good and free to use. Most of the staff were polite, but one person was especially rude. Don’t advertise a free bottle of water worth 20 cents and then make a face whenever I ask for one. There’s a noticeable fish smell in the alley where the hotel is, so that could bother you. The shower is the Asian-style setup where the water gets the entire bathroom, toilet included. If I visit Seoul again, I’d choose a hotel in a more touristy area with more to do and a better atmosphere.
