Gung Guesthouse

I spent the whole day chatting with Agoda and still got no solution for checking in, so I had to book another hotel rather than risk sleeping on the street. Such a disappointment. I’d avoid this place, or good luck getting inside. I booked through Agoda and only found out about special instructions for Agoda customers when I reached the doorstep. The guesthouse should have sent those directions in advance, especially with nobody there to manage the property. I tried calling them on KKT, but no one answered. I should’ve checked the Google reviews first. I’ve added a photo here, so try to get the instructions or contact them before you arrive.

The location works well, close to the station and a bus stop that can get you anywhere. The local area is developing into a well-developed section, too. The staff are honestly great people who care about your experience. You get everything you need and expect from a great guesthouse. Simply 10/10, amazing experience.

The rooms aren’t huge, but they’ve been clean when I stayed. I’ve been to Gung guesthouse twice and am coming back next week. The traditional breakfast is lovely, and the owners are very friendly. I feel at home there 😊

Six nights here were a nightmare, and I won’t return even if it were free. The first night, a huge dark live cockroach showed up in my room and kept me awake. The next day, the power in my room tripped while I was halfway through a shower. The owner said moisture in the bathroom outlet caused it. The vent is tiny and dusty, and the outlet sits right by the toilet bowl, while the fixed shower head points toward it. You can’t leave the water running while shampooing or washing your face. The room is so small I had to fold half my futon to get to the bathroom. The AC filter was filthy and mouldy, with a disgusting smell. I cleaned the filters and wiped away mould because breathing the air left me out of breath and worried it could harm my lungs. There were mould stains near the bathroom door, and ventilation really sucks. The mattress and blanket smelled sweaty, and the supposedly fresh towels weren’t really clean and had bleach stains. Don’t be surprised to see spider webs on the beautiful wood crafted ceiling. The self-serve kitchen was dirty, too, and the hanok overall is very rundown. The garden wooden deck is a tripping hazard, with broken and sunken pieces. The owner was hard to reach when something urgent came up. I’m unsure why they’re still running a guesthouse if personal commitments keep them too busy. Think twice before staying. You’re getting what you pay for. Thanks!!
