Haemil Hanok Guesthouse

The owner was easy to reach, and the self check-in went smoothly. We walked into a lovely welcome, with flowers to start our holiday, and the warm Korean wooden floors were a nice touch. The only issue was hearing the people next door talking loudly in the middle of the night. Some soundproofing would help. Thanks for the hospitality :)

There’s a lot to see nearby, and plenty of good restaurants and shops. The Haemil Hanok guesthouse itself is cozy and adorable, with authentic hanok doors and ring handles. They creak a little, which is actually the only time it’s cool, and add to the feeling of staying in a place from another time. Our room had a mini split AC and heater, and the AC kept us comfortable through Seoul’s hot, humid weather. Room service came every day with fresh towels and water and made the beds. Raincoats and umbrellas were available by the entrance. This is one of the coolest places we’ve stayed, and we’re already thinking about booking again. Lots of things are close by.

We stayed two nights in June, when it was humid and 30-35C every day, and the quiet AC and fan helped us sleep well. The small bedrooms were laid out efficiently, with the sink separate from the shower and toilet. Haemil Hanok Guesthouse is in a peaceful residential area, with rules about keeping quiet and respecting local residents and other guests. Local attractions, including restaurants, souvenir shops, and sightseeing activities, were a 5-10 minute walk away.

Annie was generous and always super helpful, which made my stay even nicer. The renovated Hanok is beautiful while still feeling traditional, and it was lovely and quiet. It's in a great spot, with coffee shops and restaurants around and some of the main traditional city sights within walking distance. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
