Han River Residence & Guesthouse in Seoul

The staff were pleasant enough, and the two dogs and a couple of cats are very friendly if you like animals. Still, we left early. The room was small, the bed uncomfortable, and there were only hand towels. The place is up a steep hill, so getting there from the nearby trains is hard with luggage or if you're not very fit. There was clutter in the shared areas, and the accommodation seemed like a potential fire risk.

I found the room spacious, with clean towels and useful amenities, and the luggage storage was a real help since I got to Seoul hours before check-in. I stayed five days and found the service okay. They said I could contact them if I needed anything. The uphill walk from Mapo station takes about ten minutes, though, and there's not much nearby. I was already worn out carrying my luggage when I checked my phone and realized I was close, only to see one last path climbing up. Coming back after a long day around the city was especially tiring 😅 The location is a real drawback if you're older or carrying bags. :(

For a private room in Seoul, the price is brilliant. There are some restrictions, and it felt more like staying in someone's home than a hotel. I also noticed a slight smell and cleanliness issues in the room. The place sits up a STEEP hill, and some taxi drivers wouldn't go up. Even as a fit 26-year-old, I struggled with my luggage.

The area felt lively, with bars, restaurants and convenience stores, and the metro station is nearby. There is an uphill stretch, but I had a very comfortable stay. My room was spotless and had everything I needed. Thanks to the owner and Sami, the guy from Colombia, who was always around with a smile and good energy and gave me lots of helpful recommendations. I'll be back.
