The friendly Jindo dog quietly welcomes you, which makes the place feel like visiting a relative’s home. It’s not a perfectly tidy or modern place to stay, but it’s affordable and lets you enjoy the simple, warm charm of a traditional hanok in Bukchon.

Umi made us feel so welcome during our three nights at Hanok Guesthouse 201. We liked the room and its amenities, and breakfast was good. Just be aware that you sleep on a futon, which is firmer than a typical mattress.

Uni, the owner, was incredibly sweet and wonderful. The hanok was beautiful, and the room we picked was spacious. We could use other parts of the hanok too, and got to mingle with a few other guests, a mix of local and international travelers.
