Hostel Gaon Sinchon

The owner was really enthusiastic, and the location was convenient. My room was comfortable for three people, and there’s a GS25 right at the entrance. I liked it a lot and would come back.

For the price and location, I felt I couldn’t ask for much more. The hot water came through quickly, even though I visited at the end of winter. They wouldn’t let us turn on the air conditioning then, so the room felt stuffy and was hard to breathe in. The pillows seemed new, but they were very hard and high. The building is a little old, and the main one is the yellow building on the side called golden hill, not the one shown in the photo. Getting into the elevator means stepping up, then stepping down again when you reach your floor, which isn’t convenient. I think Gaon had recently taken over and done a lot of repairs. You can clearly see two layers of tile in the toilet, and stickers have been used to cover repaired surfaces. The refurbishing felt cheap, but at least they made an effort, which was better than having more problems.

The staff were friendly and easy to approach, and I really liked the feel of the place. It's beside the yellow building, close to Sinchon station, sinchon shopping street, emart, olive young, and other spots.

I stayed four days on an independent trip to South Korea, with two people in the room. The room was medium sized, with the shower and toilet in separate areas. Front desk staff can speak Chinese and provide information in Chinese. For stays shorter than five nights in a row, the room isn't cleaned, but they'll pick up your trash each day if you leave it outside. You can get fresh trash bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and towels on the first floor, and there are bins for used towels beside the elevator. The place is very close to Sinchon Subway Station. From Exit 6, there's an elevator nearby. Exit 8 is another option, though the route is uphill if you're following navigation, and there are lots of food stalls nearby. From Exit 6, follow the indicated direction without crossing the street at first. Once you spot a 7-Eleven on your left and a Kia on your right, cross toward Kia and go into the alley beside GS25. Some reviews mention poor sound insulation. I thought it was fine: the only noise I heard was someone dragging luggage on the morning of day four. Still, if you're very sensitive to noise or sleep lightly, earplugs might be a good idea.
