Hotel Atrium

Gwangjang market is just across the street, and there are plenty of places to eat within a 10-minute walk. Myungdong is about a 20-minute walk away, which was convenient. We were very happy with the comfortable, roomy family suite for four people. I’ll stay here again on my next trip to Seoul.

Getting to Seoul attractions was easy from this hotel, thanks to its great location. The room was just okay, but the reception staff were repeatedly impolite and unhelpful. They seemed to lack a service mindset, and staff training and standards need major improvement.

I’m not someone who fusses much about hotels, since I’m mainly out exploring. But clean rooms are a must for me at any price, and this one wasn’t clean. I found trash and stray slippers under the bed, then used contact lenses on the floor beside the end table. It left me thinking the rooms don’t get vacuumed often, if at all.

The receptionist was polite and helpful, which I appreciated. The room and bathroom feel quite old, though, and I don’t personally like the spring mattress. Some of the light switches don’t work properly, and I couldn’t turn off the bulb in the cabinet. It bothered me while I was trying to sleep.
