Hotel Daewoo Inn

The staff went out of their way for me and kept the check-in desk open a couple of extra hours when my flight was delayed. The rooms are small, but well maintained, quiet, and comfortable. You can walk to nearby attractions and metro stations, and there are lots of cool things in central Seoul. Great for what I paid.

The owner was friendly, and once you know where the door is, getting in is easy. There's a microwave and filtered water. I was there alone on a Friday night, and outside noise wasn't bad, even with the window open. I'll look this place up again for an overnight stay in Seoul.

Daewoo inn is in a great spot for Namdaemun market and Myeondong shopping, and the price is very good. The couple running it are lovely and go out of their way to help. It can be hard to find, though. The alley is tiny, and even my taxi driver had trouble. When booking Uber, I used the hotel across the street, Travelodge Myeondong City Hall hotel, as a reference instead. One route that worked: take an airport bus to Plaza Hotel, go behind it and enter the street alley next to Dunkin Donuts. Turn left toward the 7-11 at the end of the street, then turn right halfway down into the tiny alley where the entrance is. There's free coffee and a water cooler, but no kettle in the room. They offered a water bottle flask, though it doesn't keep heat well, so making my own tea was difficult. The room was very warm, like other Korean hotels I've stayed in where you couldn't control the temperature. The bathroom has a wet shower, so water gets everywhere, and there was no shower mat. The wifi wasn't reliable or strong.

The couple who served me were so friendly and helpful, spoke English, and made sure I understood everything. I really appreciated their smiles and warm greetings. The hotel is a little old, but you can tell the owners are doing their best for guests. My room had the essentials, and even a toothbrush. It's very convenient, with lots of fun things to do nearby, and good value for the price. A good choice if you mainly want a well-located place to get decent rest. I'd stay again.
