Hotel Gaon is only a short walk from Dongdaemun Subway Station exit 5, and the shopping district is about five minutes away on foot. A direct airport bus stops roughly two minutes from the hotel, and the National Museum of Korea is 6 km away. The rooms are simple, air-conditioned and soundproof, with a bright yellow wall, LCD TV, and private bathroom with a shower, toilet and amenities. Free Wi-Fi and a shared kitchen are available. There’s a 24-hour front desk and concierge, plus free parking if reserved in advance. The hotel also has a tour desk and business centre, and offers currency exchange, ticket service and luggage storage. Staff speak Koran, Japanese and Chinese.

I liked the location as a base for visiting the parts of Seoul we wanted to see. The place is small and has few amenities, but it was clean and comfortable, and the price was right. I stayed four nights and was pleased. If you're mainly paying for convenience and a place to crash, it works just fine.

Basic, clean, and fine for a few nights. They provide refreshments, and the central location is great for the price. Just so you know, there’s no lift, though staff will help carry your bags upstairs.

Getting around was easy, whether by subway or bus, including to and from the airport. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores close by, and DDP and the Dongdaemun shopping areas are walkable. The hotel is right near exit 5 of Dongdaemun station. Our room was clean but quite small, and the staff were helpful.

The bathrooms were terrible, and the rooms are much too small. The reception staff weren't kind either. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.
