Hotel Golden Park Myeongdong

We stayed six nights and found it great value for money. Our twin room with city view wasn't huge, but we could still open our big suitcases. It had the basics, including a dryer, toiletries and slippers. Toiletries are available in the lobby, where you can also refill water. There's a shared space for meals and socialising, handy if you're travelling solo. The building sits in a small alley but was easy to find by following Street View. Chungmuro subway is a few minutes away, with restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. The location was perfect for us, and we'd return.

As a solo traveller, I found the location really convenient, close to the metro and many places of interest in Seoul. The room was small but clean, and all I needed was somewhere to sleep. The staff were very kind and helped me with everything I needed.

The hotel is inexpensive, but it costs about the same as Japanese business hotels with much better service and facilities. I didn't expect much, and I guess it's okay by Korean standards. It is very accessible, close to a train station, so getting around was easy. Still, the bathroom had a strange sewage-like smell, and at checkout the staff member seemed angry for no reason when I handed her the key. She was unfriendly.

A few steps from Chungmuro station, bus stops and the airport bus stop, with convenience stores, restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Myeongdong street and the DMZ tour meetup place are a 10-15 minute walk away. The common pantry has a microwave for heating food and coffee, and there's laundry, though no dryer, so clothes have to be hung outside. We stayed five nights and had a pleasant time. The room was clean and big enough to open our luggage, and it had a mini-fridge. The only issue was the T/B room: it was small for hanging clothes and had frosted glass. I'd highly recommend the hotel and would definitely come back.
