Hotel Samjung

Samjung Hotel, Gangnam is a solid short-stay or business option if you want reliable comfort and convenience without frills. It’s competitively priced for the area given the location and quality. The hotel feels modern, clean, and comfortable, with a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Rooms are compact but functional, with comfortable beds and good lighting. Staff were helpful, check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the amenities were decent. It’s an excellent base near public transit and popular dining and shopping streets.

The service really stood out. I pressed DND on the second night because I didn’t need housekeeping, but when I got back there was a basket outside my room with fresh towels and water. I appreciated that a lot. I’ve pressed DND at many hotels, and Samjung Hotel was the first to do this. It felt warm and caring. The concierge staff spoke good English and gave clear instructions, and I liked that there was always someone there rather than only check-in machines. I’d happily stay again. Thank you for the service. The airport bus stop is just outside, right in front of the hotel, and there are other buses and a metro station nearby, so getting around is convenient. Housekeeping kept the room neat, tidy, and clean. It felt spacious, with a huge window and a good view where I could see namsan tower. For the price I paid, I thought it was good value. The hardware could be better: the bar area light wouldn’t switch on, and the showerhead didn’t meet my standard, though I have high expectations and want very strong pressure. It was still acceptable. I’d give the concierge 4 stars and housekeeping 6.

The West Gangnam location worked well for meetings, and the price was good. But this feels like an old-school hotel with a facelift that didn’t quite work. The hotel controls the air conditioning, so don’t be surprised if you wake up at 3 am and find it switched off. The gym has seen better days too, with little to choose from and poor upkeep.

The service was fine and the bed was comfortable, but the pillows smelled even after their cases had been changed. The room temperature was okay. The hotel itself feels dated, and I was disappointed to learn that my belongings, left behind after checkout, had been discarded by the second day. When I called to ask about them, that was what I was told. It was really sad.
