Line Hotel Myeongdong

The location was great, but the room was so gross we walked straight back out. There were coffee splashes on the wall, hairs in the bed, and grime elsewhere. The rooms were very dirty and nothing like the photos. We asked to cancel and get a full refund, but they would only give us part of the money back. Do not book here.

The photos do not show what this hotel really looks like. The room was small, which wasn't a problem by itself, but it smelled damp and had humidity issues. The walls were stained and dirty, and so was the carpet. Our friends had a larger room, but it was just as dirty and stained, with mold on the ceiling. We stayed the first night because it was already late, then left early the next morning for Lotte Cite Hotel Myeongdong, which cost about the same and was 1000% better. We didn't expect a refund, and at checkout the staff member's first words were "NO REFUND," without asking if they could fix anything. That made me think this must happen often. DO NOT USE THE PHOTOS AS A REFERENCE FOR THE QUALITY OF THIS HOTEL. THEY DO NOT SHOW ITS TRUE APPEARANCE.

The best thing here is how handy the location is. Step outside and you're right by Myeongdong Street, with coffee, convenience stores, shopping, and pretty much whatever else you need close by. For the nicer city view, I'd book one of their better rooms. The twin economy room is small and has no window. It's one of the better budget options around Myeongdong, though I’d probably choose it in winter. They don't have air conditioning in summer, which can make the room feel suffocating. They do tell you beforehand, but I doubt many people read all the descriptions.

The only real plus was being right in Myeongdong near shops and places to eat. Getting around the building was a pain, though. The hotel shares one small elevator with other businesses, and it was crowded and slow. Sometimes people from other floors were using it, or staff were moving garbage and supplies. My room looked nothing like the online photos. I arrived around 10 p.m., exhausted, and after the awkward check-in I didn't have the energy to complain or ask for another room. I just wanted to sleep and get out. I booked it because it was cheap and well located for a short stay, but even at that price I felt completely scammed. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Spend a little more somewhere that takes cleanliness and basic hospitality seriously. The staff were rude and unhelpful from the start. It wasn't a language issue, just their attitude. The room smelled awful, like a dirty public toilet, with a musty, dusty odor that stayed even with the AC on. The walls and floors were stained, the bed looked used and not properly cleaned, and the bathroom smelled worse. Opening the fridge made me gag. It smelled like rotten meat, or like something dead had been left inside, and it wasn't cold or working. The whole place felt grimy, and this was the dirtiest hotel room I've ever seen. There was no hot water in the shower for the first 20 minutes, so I stood there freezing until it warmed up. The bathroom walls and floor looked filthy too. The AC worked, but the stale dusty air made the room stuffy and gross, and I barely slept because I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Also, the Olive Young that's supposed to be underneath the hotel is permanently closed. The pictures on their platforms are inaccurate.
