Hotel Migliore Seoul

The bed and blanket were so, so comfortable, and we slept really well. The room was a little small, but that was fine for us. It was clean, and the location was great, with a train station right across from the hotel and restaurants, food stalls, and malls all around. The lobby is on the 14th floor, and the receptionist was friendly. At checkout, we left our luggage with the hotel and came back to collect it later. An unexpectedly great stay. Loved it, highly recommended.

Finding the entrance was a pain. You need the last doorway on the left side of the building, but there’s no sign outside; the concierge points you to the 14th floor, where there are finally plenty of signs in the lift. The reception staff were very helpful with local phone calls the next day. I also saw lots of Asian tourists rearranging their luggage, apparently arriving with empty bags to fill from the eight floors of fashion shops below. I’d spotted the Migliore neon while walking down from Dongdaemun at night, where I was staying, and chose it for the last night of my 13-night trip to SK. The DDP is a fantastic building, which I hadn’t seen on my previous visit to Seoul 10 years earlier, and I wanted a view of it, so I paid extra for a front-facing room on the 20th floor. Unfortunately, it rained both the evening I arrived and my last day, the only rainy weather during my August stay in Korea, so the view was less impressive. The double room matched its price and had a bath under the shower, which I took the chance to use since it was the only bath I had in SK. The location is great, especially in wet weather or with luggage: the street elevator down to the subway and plaza is 100m to the right of the hotel entrance, on the same side. That’s particularly useful in SK, where subway entrances usually have steps rather than escalators. There are plenty of places to eat in the streets behind the hotel. On the rainy day, I spent time in and around the DDP before taking the subway to the airport, with just one change on line 2.

Right in the heart of DDM, so the location is quite strategic. The room is small, but we could still enjoy a hot bath.
