Sejong Hotel

For the price and location, this hotel was worth it: $400+ SGD for three nights right outside an exit of Myeongdong Station. The rooms are bare minimum, though, so keep expectations in check for a 3-star place. The entrance felt a bit tacky with all the shiny gold and wood, but also had an old-fashioned classy feel. I noticed a lingering smell in the lobby, something like insect spray, though maybe it was just me. The bed was quite hard, and there was only just enough room to open our luggage. The toilet area was a sore point: the basin was too low, the door opened into it, and the tub setup left lots of water on the floor after showering. The gym had typical equipment, but getting there was odd, through the lobby luggage storage area instead of the main lobby lift. There’s laundry service, but no self-service laundry.

The triple room was spacious and clean, and each of us had our own super single bed. We could see Myeongdong city and the Cathedral from the room. The location is superb, right outside Myeongdong Station Exit 10, and the airport limousine bus stop is only a two-minute walk away.

The location was really good, and the price was affordable, so you get what you pay for. But the old hotel needs work and the room service felt half-hearted, with lots of dust. After four nights here, I won’t be coming back.

The rooms have plenty of space and the basic things you need. There’s a great nightlife scene around the hotel, with streets full of lights, and restaurants and shopping centers are all within about 2 km of Sejong Hotel. A good place to stay for a longer visit.
