The host was quick to reply and very accommodating. The room itself is good, though the bathroom is very small. Sound carries through the walls, so you can hear noisy guests in the next room.

The people were super friendly, and my private double room had good space. The location near mtr stations and convenience stores was perfect, and communication with the host was really good. Seoul Grand Hostel is well situated, but the hygiene could have been better. There was rubbish under the bed, including an opened water bottle, and the cleaning lady put it in my fridge, which I found kind of nasty. She said someone else had cleaned before my check-in because she’d been on holiday. Behind the bathroom sink tap looked black. I couldn’t tell whether it was dirt or mold, but it didn’t look very hygienic.

There’s just one washer and one dryer for a hostel with 21 guest rooms, and they’re only meant to be used from 9 AM to 10 PM, probably because they’re noisy. During my stay some inconsiderate guests ran them from after 7 AM, hogged them, and did the same that evening and the next morning. The hostel could use another set of machines. The room was very clean and the location convenient. The hostel is well equipped, with a hairdryer in the room, universally compatible plugs, and clean towels. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, and the bathroom was really small, though I could move around without bumping into anything. Soundproofing was poor too. We could hear our neighbors talking and singing, very badly, close to midnight.

The host was extremely helpful and always reachable for questions. The rooms were clean and tidy, and I liked the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The washing machine and dryer were very nice. The location is great, near metro line 2, with easy access to Hongdae, city hall, and Gangnam-gu.
